I used to use a knife, a hammer and a nail, but I bought the belt pliers and I absolutely would do it again in a heartbeat. It's quick and efficient.

My choice for portability would be the Singer 301. It is a little larger than the Featherweight, has a carry handle built in and only weighs 16 lbs. sews like a dream. The feed dogs also drop for FMQ.. :thumbup:

I have a couple of those and an Elnita (stripped down Stella). Great little machines.

I agree, the 301 is a wonderful small portable machine, I posted about my ELNA because I 'm using it a lot recently, but I have 301s, too and I love them as well. Just kind of slipped my mind , i guess. :-)

Bobbin winder tires are available anywhere you find parts, such as a Singer dealership. I have even found them at places like Walmart. They are very cheap. Let me know if you can't find one.
PM me I have several hundred of them and if you need any parts for the vintage machines what ever they may be I more than likely will have them. I am guessing that by the end of the year I will be the largest vintage parts distributor in the US! I am even going to have the Model 15 machines badged under my name towards the middle of the summer. They will be in 4 different colors and are super high quality brand new machines!!

I just looked at the machine. It may have been in someone's attic or basement for a long time. I think it might clean up well. I would be more concerned with the motor. To much money for the condition I would think. Glenn
Glenn, I believe that Neechi can be put into a treadle. The motor could be tossed. The person is asking way too much for that sad machine.
