This is an announcement to let you all know about the new Virtual section dedicated to the Vintage Sewing Machines!!

If you are an Enthusiast, Collector, or just want to hang out and learn some history about the "Golden Years" of the sewing machine please subscribe to the group!!!

All you have to do is go to the "User Defined Sections" click there and scroll down to the "Vintage Sewing Machine Shop" and click on the subscribe button. That way when you hop on you have the VSMS on your home page like the other sections of the forum.

This is an Author managed section so that lets you guys include threads that you start about your machines or questions to the group. To add to the group after you post your thread go to the bottom of the page right under the "Quick Reply" box it has a link that says "Add This Topic To A Virtual Section". Click it and then click the VSMS section and your there!!! But dont worry I will be combing the forums including the relevant threads to help the vintage machine enthusiast.

It will still be able to be seen on the main part of the forum where you originally posted but it will keep all of the "Vintage" threads in one area to look at.

If your nervous about doing this you can always PM me and I can add it for you!!

So everyone come on over and pull up a seat in the Shop and lets enjoy ourselves!!

I need help identifying this machine. It is a light metallic blue and is in a white carry case. It can be removed from it. It says 'WHITE' on the front on a label. It also says Model CB Deluxe. On the very top of the machine it says Precision Sewing Machine.
I found a place underneath that says Made in Japen. Also what appears to be a serial number (LA 19.NA.3346). Underneath on the left side it says J-C4 and on the right side it says 158.

I have tried to attach a pic. Hope it works.

Please let me know if you can help me ID this machine as to the vintage and anything else you might know about it.

Billy,
I sent you a message about an old White machine. However, I did something wrong and the pic I sent came out under your quote instead of under my message. Please look for it there.
Sorry about that!

Hi Oma,
I have a machine that is almost identical to yours, but it is badged Baldwin Clipper. The gal who had it before me converted it to a hand crank, and I just love using it out on the porch in the summer.
My guess is that it's a 50's or 60's Japanese-made 15-91 clone.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question but here goes. At a garage sale there were many old machines for sale. They were not working and were all rusty. they were laying on the ground for display. the cost was a dollar each. Can these be refinished to working again? In case I run across this again I want to know what I am getting into. I did buy one that was on a treadly table but it wasnt working and I didn't know where to find out how to unfreeze the parts if possible.

Go to the Tutorial section. Billy has several tuts on cleaning the old machines. I unstuck a 1880's Victor machine by soaking in kerosene as Billy suggests. His tuts are really good and thorough.

Machines for $1? I would have bought ALL of them.

It was several years ago. I didn't know what I would do with them.
