I like some walmart fabric, just not the $1. a yard stuff u can see thru. found a beautiful bolt of off white there, 100% cotton but felt like silk, got the whole thing.

I used to buy all the time, then ours quit selling it. Then a year later they came back with a small section of jelly rolls ( 82 pieces instead of 42) Fat qtr stacks, Layer cakes ( 50 instead of 40)....so those are great for charity quilting. Nice colors. They also donate a lot to Project Linus and it is bright and colorful fabric so who can complain. I would still shop there for fabric if they had it. I can still go to another close town and they have it.
As for my personal quilting, I use high end because I handquilt and do not want it to have anything less so it lasts. Just IMHO.

I love Walmarts selections of bright color fabric. REally cute stuff for kids quilts especially. I have bought a lot of Walmart fabric.

No disrespect to anyone.
I buy from my local quilt shop and have gotten rid of all of my wal-mart stash to different people on these boards....I think Wal-mart fabric is good for crafting and what not.....or maybe donation quilts...but I feel like I should support my local quilt shop and get high quality fabrics. I also tend to like certain designers and brands of fabric that wal-mart doesn't sell.....so I have to buy it high end anyway. Just my personal preference. I think the art of quilting should be extended to all who want to do it and if wally's allows that then so be it.

here, here.
I'd rather make one quilt a year with LQS fabric than ten of WM cloth.

oh good grief! What is the agenda of these sort of posts? To make people feel bad? To make yourself feel good? I just don't get it.

I've used Walmart fabric for lots of quilts, and never had a single problem. Several for the grandkids too, which have been washed a bazillion times.
:) :)

When I first started trying to build up my stash, I bought sp what was on sale. I later realized what I had was not QTing fabric, want not waist no, I hate waist I am now using that fabric to make window panels, can't afford drapes so, It doesn't half to last long( # washing ) Each panel will be different patt- some of same fabric. Five windows. I intend to have fun have 3 panels done, plan to have one sheet for batting one for lining. Will machine quilt with my new walking foot. Life is good.
