A year ago I promised to make a quilt for my daughter-in-law's mother, whose mother had recently passed away. Finished it just in time for this Christmas. I used photos and pieces of fabric from her clothes as the centers of the log cabin squares. Pretty pleased with it overall. My FMQing is not the greatest but it was done with love. I quilted a heart around each of the centers and meandered the rest (except for the borders, which has a heart pattern).

The recipient seemed to really appreciate it (as did her sisters).

What a beautiful quilt. My youngest sister's husband died this past Christmas and I would love to make a quilt like this for her. Would you share your pattern/instructions with me? Thank you.

I am away from home now but will be happy to share any info I have on it. Give me a few days to get back to you.

As it happens I will be making three more memory quilts soon...but do not plan to use a log cabin for them...just patterns that lend themselves to a focus point within a square.

To be a good sewer, you have to be a good ripper.

Beautiful work. I'm sure it will be treasured for many years.
