I began with four 4-1/2 squares, one 6-1/2 block and a 3-7/8 focus square for the 'window'

Begin sewing the background squares with the center square

Sew the other background squares to the center square

Sew the center (now folded) block to both sides. I pinned right at the center seam, and both sides at the ends of the folded center block

Make sure all the raw edges are aligned when you sew

Press the block well. Make sure the seams on the back are flat

With a little dab of my Elmer's school glue stick in the center, I then place my 'window' fabric

Press the 'window', You can also begin to turn back or fold the edges on the 'window'. This helps when you are ready to sew the edges down.

Start stitching the edges down. Take your time!!!

And now you are done! Make as many more as you want, keeping the same colors throughout, or keep the background fabric and change the 'frame' and 'window'. Sew them together and you have a beautiful faux cathedral window. For the real deal, check out the tutorial that Eddie did for Cathedral Windows. It is easy to follow as he does pic by pic as well.

I just watched that tutorial over and over last week. I ordered the book and received it today but it didn't tell you how to do it if you had 2 different colors. Thanks for showing that. Maybe it was that my DS was talking to me and I missed it but thanks again.

It's really helpful. I tried it with you tube a while back and gave up. I'm going to look at You tube again and then practice with your tutorial. Thanks.
