One thing I've been doing with my Totes, is : I sew the front pocket into the seam of the front top and bottom piece. (sewing all three pieces together at once) It makes it a nicer finish. Don't know if I am making this clear...

Thanks! I have the pattern, too. But I've been a bit intimidated.... Hopefully this will help!

Thank you for the pictorial tutorial.

I'm still stuck on the pocket. I've completed through Step 1D. I've read through the instructions but can't find when to attach the pocket to the bag. I thought it was attached in the seam when you sew the outer top to the outer bottom but the instructions don't say anything about that. In your photos it looks like you have it in Step 7D. I'm totally confused.

Yup, the pattern has it at step 7. I am not sure why, but that's where they have it. I always put it on after I get the outer portions sewn and the fleece on them.

I think it is important to remember that patterns are like a recipe to make chilli. They all have the same basics, but you can put the ingredients in different order and still get chilli.

:)

So it's just top stitched on? Is that secure enough?

Almost, read Step 5 on your pattern. You just use your bottom color of the bag for the line instead of drawing one. And follow the measurement directions in step 7.
