I thought I would create a tutorial to help others who might be interested in doing this, but didn't want to spend the money on Quilt Design Software.

Anyway please feel free to try this out and see if my instruction make sense. And also let me know any changes, errors or instructions that might be unclear.

ENJOY!

I would like to upload into GIMP pics of fabric in my stash. Does anyone know if you can do this? Maybe just save your pic as a .jpg?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Awesome, thanks for doing this and sharing with us. I downloaded GIMP a while back but couldn't quite figure out what I was doing. I'll have to try this.

Excellent tutorial, Michael. I have been using Gimp for several years, including the Linux and Windows versions, for editing photos. It never occurred to me to use it for designing quilts. You have given me some excellent new ideas!
