Great quilt. I have made many of these,seems everyone likes the bright colors, just finished one for run for life in each of my 2 close cities here in Fl.I used paper for the first few but didn't like ripping off the paper so now I buy bed skirts at the thrift stores, the skirts has a lot of fabric and the center works well for the base for the string quilts and you can just leave it on very light weight

I like how you used the same color and size in the center of each block. It ties them together in a nice way. I will have to try this!

Your string blocks are really lovely and I like the blue you used as a focal color. I do mine with telephone book pages and foundation cloth. I prefer the cloth foundation that stays in. Once you pull the paper off, everything is on the bias. I have also done strings on dryer sheets. These turn into a diamond pattern, or cut paper 6.5 x 9.5 inc.

OK, stupid newbie question: why do you need a foundation piece? Why can't you just sew strips together?

I have never done paper piecing so maybe I dont get the whole concept of this but why didnt you just sew you strips together and cut the square without the paper?
