There is a member on this board who has a tute doing the board method. I saved it before the new board, but don't know how to access my saved stuff or I would tell you who it was! She did a wonderful job. Hope anyone interested may be able to find it. I'm sure someone knows who it was.

that is basically the same method i have used for many years. learned it from book by marsten & cunningham. used taping to hardwood floor...drifted up to taping backing to table for smaller quilts and on to using an antique quilt frame that is c-clamped at corners and rested on back of chairs for full size quilts. roll sides towards cnter for short arms [like mine 
] then work out ...cross hatch every 4 inches or so...i use cream or white thread...used a colored thread [spool almost empty so i used it up] one time and when i pulled basting stitches out i saw little areas of color in some places...just an fyi for those of you who try this. but like ashley...this is the only way i do any set up for quilting be it hand or machine ...full, wall or miniature...no backside puckers or tucks...always works great.
