It's a beneficial information about how to make a twister Christmas tree and you can easily follow it. If you don't want to make it, you can buy ready made artificial Christmas tree from the web. I would like to suggest you for natural tree because it's look traditional.

June Tailor makes a Twister Ruler that makes a large variety of twisters. Here is a video of it. If you don't have a twister ruler yet, consider getting this one. That way, you can make all sizes.

You're absolutely right. I went to the hardware store and had them cut me a 3 1/2 inch square out of plexiglass, (they gave it to me for free because they made it out of scrap). When I got it home I scratched the 2 lines on it, I drew along the scratch with a magic marker, wiped off the excess, then taped clear tape over the scratch. Ta Da! I think I found the paper pattern on a site where they called it 'square dance'

You can buy a twister tool at Joanns, Hancocks, any quilt shop I would think. My tool is 5 1/2 in and came from Hancoks. Its by omnigrid. A warning they are so easy they are addictiive.
