I hope Karen doesn't mind but you might want to see a hand pieced and hand quilted version of Joseph's Coat. Yes, that's what I said ..... hand pieced and hand quilted!!! It's a real beauty!!! I think she is still a member of this board but am not sure. Go check out the photos.

Ok, I think I have it figured out. My quilt will have four blocks across and four blocks down. First row, Make the the complete blocks but leave the right petal off. When you join the blocks, the left side petal with fit into the right space.

Second row, make the middle of the block and two bottom petals, the two side and two top pieces will be left blank as they will fit to the top row and side blocks.

you can do this either way. Work each row and add the petals as needed. I will do the side next.

It seems that every Joseph's Coat that I have researched on the web, is hand pieced lol and they are all beautiful. I can't imagine how long it took to make one.

Personally I don't hand piece anything lol. I have several machines and I make good use of them as I want my quilts in at least two weeks or shorter lol.

The only handwork I do is, silk ribbon and crewel and beading and I totally love that part of hand work, so I can understand someone doing a quilt that way.
