I have been given hundreds of beautiful ties, mostly silk and would like to make a quilt top, I saw a tutorial some months ago here I thought. Can't locate now. Thanks for any help.

I've been collecting ties for a few years now from thrift stores. I've got them all washed and taken apart. I've just been waiting for the right pattern to entice me. crafterbarbara, what pattern are you going to choose?

I don't know about one with ties but Jenny Doan at Missouri Star Quilt has a great video to make a Dresden block or quilt. It is a recent video like maybe Oct 14 . It is called Checkered Dresden Quilt but I think the basics are there for you so you could adapt the ties rather than fabric. Good luck !

Buy a new seam ripper and go for it. The book Daddy's Ties has a beautiful one with a Dresden plate design in the center. But before anything they need to be ripped and washed.

I have seen them done in a string quilt pattern, a Dresden plate pattern, a log cabin, and a courthouse. All looked really good done in ties. Would love to see it when finished!

My father-in-law passed away 2 years ago. He had alot of old, funky ties that I wanted to do something with. This is the quilt I made. Each plate has the monogram of the man's ties and on the back is there full names. Finishing up with my second one and then going to tackle a different design.[ATTACH=CONFIG]567830[/ATTACH]

Go to pinterest. There are a lot on there. I like the one where it is dresden plate in the middle and fans on the corners.
I, too, have lots of ties. I plan to do something with the labels also.
