Per request: this is just out of material from my scrap bin but hopefully you can get the idea. Let's see if I can load these pictures.

First prepare the handle by sewing the 2 strips right sides together on the 2 long sides, leaving both ends open. Sew with the batt underneath so it is sewn in....turn right sides out. Top stitch if desired along the long edges. Pin it to the center of the one 10 inch piece of fabric and then lay the second 10 inch piece on top. Sew all around the edge but leaving a 3 inch section open for tuning. Turn

Draw lines 2 inches away from all 4 edges to stitch the ribbon along. I use my Frixion pen but a pencil will do as the marks will be covered by the ribbon. The tricky bit is to sew the first 2 ribbons on that go under the handle. Then sew the next 2 easy sides. The basket is now ready to assemble by tying the bows on all 4 corners.
If you have any questions just ask and I will try to answer them. The Christmas Candy Basket has polyester quilt batt in it so it is puffier. This basket has Hobbs 80/20 batt inside. |
