I've had a lot of people ask me how I kept my trees upright when doing my D9P, so I thought I'd post a tutorial with pics. Here goes...

Start w/ your 9P, cut in quarters...

Take your top right (or left) corner and move it to the bottom left (or right), leaving it the same orientation as before

And out the bottom left quarter in the top right position (again, you could be doing the opposite sides from me)

Look! All straight. Just sew your quadrants together to form your block :)

Yay! Glad this was clear and helpful!! :D I have the tendency to over-explain. Which, in turn, confuses people more!

I'm nearly finished my top - just putting on my last border. I'll be posting pics, probably later today (I was up with the baby from 3-5am, by the time I got him back to sleep, it was nearly time for me to get up, so I went and worked on my quilt. Who needs sleep when there is quilting to be done??? )

I've been doing D9P for a long time and I looked and looked at your pics to see how you did it! Thank you for showing me. I love this quilt! Everytime I've done this patch I've moved all 4 quadrants and didn't even think of doing just 2. Can't wait to go back to doing the D9P!!!

Oh THANK YOU so much! I now know what to do with some older fabric (50ish I think) that I was gifted. And I love how easy this would have been to figure out. LOL Now I just have to find the right fabrics to go with that fabric.

debbieumphress 09-25-2011 03:23 PM

Thanks for the tutorial and info. I appreciate all who take the time to find everything like this for us. This is older but your blocks are still awesome.

skjquiltnut 11-01-2011 06:21 PM

Thanks, I think I can do one NOW!
