Is there a reason that the red was all cut into squares then joined to the green, then cut apart? Wouldn't it be easier to just piece the red and green together then cut apart? Am I missing something?

I can't open doc. up on my computer

I love log cabins, this is a very nice layout, i am getting fabric together to try and start one for me, i love reds so trying to get a lot together to use in mine, i found a new fabric called "Friendship" that is mostly reds, so now i am working on color combinations, which is hard for me, i keep changing my mind.
Thank you so much for sharing

Pojo, This one was written in Microsoft Word 2003; is it possible you don't have MS Office, MSWord, or other similar programs on your computer? Wish I were skilled enough to help you.

I don't have Microsoft Office on my computer, either. We use Open Office. In order to look at Jan's file, I needed to right click on her Word document link (above) then chose "Save Target As" with a left click. Then I chose where I wanted to save the file on my computer and added the extension ".sxw" after the title, which is what Open Office uses for text documents. You will need to use whatever extension YOUR text program uses. Then just click "Save". Then I can open the document in Open Office and read it.

Hope that this helps you!

I love log cabins and all the variations. My bucket list contains a slip that I'll make all the variations I can find. :)

OK.....I'm confused as to why you would sew pieces together, then cut them apart???

Donna,
Can you be more specific...which part do you mean 'Sewed together then cut apart'?

Back on the first page of this topic I responded to Pepita's post about cuting the red into squares then sewing them individually to a green strip when it would be more efficient to sew a red strip and a green strip together, then cut into a green/red segment before adding the next 'log' strip. Is this what you mean?

Thanks much Jan. So far, I have only done a log cabin in floral and white on whites to make a good sized table runner. Someday, comes the quilt.
