EQ7 "Did you know..." Endless color choices with one click

Did you know in EQ7 that you have endless color choices...even more than you can see? Check out pg 142 of the EQ7 Users' Manual. When you are on the quilt worktable, you have even more colors available than what you see on the "Colors" tab. Click that "colors" tab and select any color so that it is highlighted. RIGHT click on it and a window opens that show "Add Shades & Tones." These are lighter and darker versions of the same color hue with either black or white added. Select "Add to Sketchbook" and these extra shades and tones will be at the end of the "colors" tab. This is a great function for monochromatic quilts, or when you cannot find the right value. I honestly use this feature much more than the fabrics tab when I am designing.

When adding colors this way to an entire quilt, remember that pushing the "Ctrl" button before selecting a color adds that color to every single "square" - or whatever shape) that makes up the block in the whole quilt. Pushing "Alt" first does every alternate piece. For example, if I select the center square of a nine patch, pushing the "Ctrl" button before selecting a color adds that new color to ALL of the center squares of the nine patches. "Alt" would add to every other one.

Remember, "Ctrl Z" will almost always undo your most recent action. If you hate the color or select the wrong piece, you can get rid of it this way quickly. Good luck and happy quilting.

THanks! Care to share any other "hidden" tip like this? I say hidden 'cause I'm one of those who doesn't really read the manual.

Wish I had it to play with. Sounds like so much fun.

I have EQ6 and have tried to figure out how to scan the fabric into the program so I can use the color and design. Does anyone know how to do that? I'm sure it's simple, I just can't figure it out.

Thanks so much ... I have been using EQ for a while. I have some skills, but I did not know about this special function. I am sure that I will get plenty of use from this feature.
