Dragonquilter, I've tried this pattern 2X and STILL haven't gotten it. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Very frustrating! My folds don't look like the ones in the photos. I understand the "weaving" effect but they don't seem to braid (or whatever). Is there any thing you can think of that most "dummies" (like me) do most often that is incorrect? Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks Sandy Goshorn :)
I am not sure I can help you any more that the pictures. Try drawing the fold lines on your background. You need to draw a + and an X. I lined up my fabrics on my cutting board in order to have the spacing even on each stack. Sew from the center out along the center of this first stack. Fold one side over on top of the other. Place the next stack on the next line and sew again. Repeat this all the way around for 8 stacks, folding the previous ones out of the way. Once they are all sewn, take 2 adjacent stacks and fold them away from each other. For the first (center most) petal, fold under twice and lay flat in middle. Now repeat for the other side. For the second and all the rest, fold under once and lay flat in middle and then one on the other side. Keep alternating sides. Repeat these steps all around. I hand stitched with big basting stitches to hold in place before adding the next layer. Debra |

My guild had a " challenge quilt " using a specific fabric. It was striped with several blues and white. I made this and it came out well.
