Thanks, this was great. We get 4-6 phone books a year and no one wants to take them for recycling so I am glad to have this tip. You should send it into Fons & Porter, Sewing with Nancy or some such where they give you a little prize for tips, I'm sure you would win.

Vaguely same subject - just a little different. I have an old quilt top, strips sewn, then diamonds cut on paper put together into stars. I found one piece of paper dqated 1932. Long story short - it was started by Hubby's grandmother, then his Mom worked on it. He inherited it and I kept telling him I would quilt it for him. Well, he is gone (died) and I'd like to quilt it for my step-daughter (3 generations having worked on it). Question - is there anyway to preserve the old pieces of paper, proving it's age?

OOPS. Sorry !! You're not finished posting :)

I didn't know we could interrupt someone's tutorial! Not that I intend to.

Kyia

I used a bedskirt I got from Goodwill for $1.00 and all I needed was flannel on the back, no batting. I'm not sure I'd have the patience to tear all the paper off for the large size I made. No, I'm sure, LOL.
