...and the sides

Before completion cut the top

Finally ending the top with a binding.
Remark: You may make extra box with (wide)satin stripes too.

Yes.about 1 inch wide

Looks like a very cool technique. If you did it flat instead of a box, I think it would make a super envelope for a nook, ereader, Ipad etc. Thanks for sharing!

jaciqltznok 01-07-2012 07:24 PM

dang..that looks like FUN....might have to give that a go for EAster!

jaciqltznok 01-07-2012 07:25 PM

question please..I realize you are not in the USA, but was wondering, if instead of using the hard batting, you could use something like Timtex or fast2fuse? They are the stiff interfacing used to make tote bags/purses!

maureenq 01-07-2012 08:36 PM

Good work! Always love to see ideas. Thanks for showing us.

Oh, you are giving me ideas. No time, but oh it's going to be fun. Now which fabric, maybe the pink print with black/white geometric design, or the gold and brown batik, and just maybe the scrappy look. The possibilities are endless.

Krystyna 01-08-2012 06:05 AM

What a wonderful way to use up scraps of batting and the end result is simply stunning!

DianneK 01-08-2012 06:15 AM

I was wondering about using Timtex, also. Thanks for the tute. these would be great for a lot of things - and a way to use scraps.

This is terrific! And what a neat way to get to show off your machine's fancy stitches too! I love Tartan's idea of making a kindle / nook case too. Really Enci, your project idea could apply to so many other applications, it's wonderful! Thank you for sharing!

TFquilter 01-08-2012 09:36 AM

This great and I've saved it for a future project!!!! One question "paper glue strips?" I'm not familiar with this, do we have it here in the states? Maybe a dumb question?

ScrapQuilter 02-24-2012 02:04 PM

the pattern I have said to use the timtex and you make a casing for the timtex............

OHSue 02-24-2012 07:54 PM

I am going to have to try one of these, thanks for the tute.

Quilt Novice 02-25-2012 07:58 AM
