#1 all pieces laid out 2, align edge of triangle along square, corners of triange will overlap. Stitch 3 Press to one side #1 [ATTACH=CONFIG]244665[/ATTACH] #2 - sew triangle to square [ATTACH=CONFIG]244666[/ATTACH] 3 - press toward square [ATTACH=CONFIG]244667[/ATTACH] 4 - trim off triangle corner to line up with square [ATTACH=CONFIG]244669[/ATTACH] 5 after trimming [ATTACH=CONFIG]244670[/ATTACH] placement of second unit [ATTACH=CONFIG]244671[/ATTACH] 7- sew second unit to square - pen line added for emphasis [ATTACH=CONFIG]244672[/ATTACH] 8 - Press to one side [ATTACH=CONFIG]244674[/ATTACH] 9 -- Trim 1/4 inch from point of square [ATTACH=CONFIG]244675[/ATTACH] 10 - corner unit finished. Also can do it this way - I hate working with triangles and try to make as few as possible.
I just make the Square in Square center slightly larger than needed and trim down. By cutting the triangles as shown, your finished corner has no bias edge. |

This is probably a dumb question, but is there a way to determine what size to cut the larger square so that when you cut it on the diagonal, it fits the smaller square. For instance, if you are working with a 3-1/2 inch square, what size would you cut the other square so that the half squares would be the right size?
