Sewing Selvedges

I have been asked to write a little tutorial about how I sew the selvedges into my little quilts.

I hope this is of some help.

I sew my selvedges onto a foundation - it can be paper, fabric but my preference is tracing vilene as it is clear enough to see through.

For this tutorial I have used a hexagon outline.

Very interesting, thank you very much. I have a load saved up and have never made anything but postcards. How do they wash up, do they behave well after washing and drying?

Thank you for the nice tutorial; I have a bunch of selvages saved up and now I now how to handle them. Question: If you're not into making bags and purses, what would your recommendation be for putting these together in a quilt? Would you have sashing, setting squares?

thanks so much for taking the time to explain and show your process with us!

I started saving my salvages after seeing your earlier post. Thanks for the info. Even like the different colored fabric hex.

Excellent tutorial - wonderful pictures and instructions Lynnie! I always wondered how to add strength to such tiny strips.
