Yes, there are patterns out there and these do resemble one on the market, but I find the one I did to be very successful.

Directions are for any size (examples further down). Would suggest less that 7" wide, but wider that 3 1/2" for finished bag. Depth can be any thing over 3".

Cutting:
Lining/Casing (folds over at top): - Cut 1" wider than finished width. - Cut 4" longer than finished depth.

Body fabric: -Cut same width as Lining. Cut depth 2" shorter.

Pull tabs: -Cut two 3" squares of Lining fabric.

Fusible fleece: -Cut 1/2" narrower and 1" shorter than lining.

"Snaps": two pieces of 3/4" wide metal measuring tape. Measure when width between side seams is known. Make 1" shorter than this. Cuts easily with old pair of scissors. Wrap duct tape over ends and nip off corners. #2

Assembly
Center Fusible on wrong side of Lining leaving 1/4" on sides and 1/2" on ends. Flip over to press & fuse.
Center wrong side of Body fabric on fusing leaving 1" on Lining/Fusing at each end. #3

Make two Pull tabs: #4

Right side is marked for quilting layers together noting how far down from end to start so stitching will not show on casing when folded. #5. Note how Lining is folded over 1/4" and pressed.

Fold Lining over to make a generous 1" casing. Center tab under fold and edge stitch casing to body. (See finished bag.)

With right side together sew entire side seam down one side and a partial seam down the other side.. (I use a very narrow seam so that fusible fleece does not get between "snaps" at top of bag.)

Measure the distance between the side seams and prepare ruler "snaps". With bag still right side together insert "snaps" this way )( so that when turned they will be (). #6

Pressing firmly on the "snaps" finish sewing the second side seam. Turn bag right side out - snap, crackle and pop and there is your bag! Pull tabs to open! #7

Enjoy! Not only for girls! My GS and his friends use them for carting around their Tech-Deks (sp?) and such! This one is for one of the boys.

Sample size:
Lining/Casing 5 3/4 x 12 1/2"
Body Fabric 5 3/4 x 10 1/2"
Fusible fleece 5 1/4" x 11 1/2"
Snaps (ruler) 5"

Don't know why I didn't round up to 6", but this size seems just right! PM me with any questions.
