I learned to do this but to cut 2" and 1 1/2". It worked perfect for me, who hates binding. I might have to give your measurements a try when I work up the nerve to bind again. Thanks for the show and tell. I love these!

I prefer to do handstitching on the binding as well. But, this is interesting, I may have to give it a try! Thanks for tute!

This might be the answer to a problem I just ran into. I've been using up some scrap strips in mug rugs and other small projects but don't have any scrap strips wide enough for binding but I think this idea using 2 narrower strips will work. Thanks for the idea because I didn't want to introduce any more fabrics to my scraps.

I have a king sized quilt that will be ready for binding soon. I am definately doing this! Thank you!!

I did this on a king size quilt and I did not have enough fabric that I wanted to use to do a regular type binding. So, I made the fabric into the phlange. It came out beautifully.

I used this flanged edge on a wall hanging for my sewing room and I LOVE it! I posted the pic on the "organization" section so you can see how it looks.

I have practiced this numerous times and LOVE IT!! I use strips that are 2-l/4" and 1-1/2" to make the flange bigger and more noticable. THANKS SO MUCH!

That is awesome! You get a different look while attaching the binding on the front. Very creative, I love it!
