I was asked to do a checkbook cover tutorial so here is my version. I already had this lesson written in a pdf form so I am just going to use it as is. If anyone has a problem with this just let me know and I will be happy to send it to you in an email.

I wanted to show you how to make the tops like the one I posted earlier. You will need to make the "blocks" needed for the design you choose to make.
Here are the "Block" directions
http://www.quiltingboard.com/virtual...jsp?vsnum=1020

These designs all use a 1 1/4" template. If you need one just let me know.

Once you have chosen your colors and the design you want to make then you need to make however many "Blocks" you need for that design. Blocks are HSTs or Boston Blocks or Combination Blocks etc.

Then after you have your Blocks made lay them out in the layout for that design. Now sew the blocks into rows and the rows together to create the top.

Add borders to get approx 7 1/2 or 7 3/4" by approx 4 1/2" or 4 3/4". The size can vary a bit but not too much or your checkbook will either be too large or too small.

Now you can continue to follow the checkbook cover directions in the PDF.

Here are some other designs. If you have any questions just ask. I am always happy to help.

This one you make the 4 x 4 center blocks and then measure the edge of your top and cut a sashing to match, Approx 4" long, Sew it on and then trim to 5/8" Now sew the 4 side blocks together and sew them onto the sashing, Continue on to add borders.

This one I used the same star block as the one in the PDF and the squares are 1 1 /2"

This one I used the same pattern as in my Sue tutorial and then used the strip borders on the side.

Here you go again...missed seeing blocks from you. But I haven't been able to quilt for a couple weeks, fell and jammed my wrist. It's getting better so hopefully I'll be back to doing one of these. I have two checkbooks, and did the bearclaw so this would be fun for the other one.
