The Boston Blocks are the size of the template you use. I used a 2 1/2" template here. If you use the 2 1/2" for all of the "Blocks" then your quilt block will measure 12 1/2" unfinished.

If you use a 1 1/2" template you will get a 6 1/2" quilt block unfinished

And if you use a 2" template you will get a 9 1/2" quilt block.

To get an 18 1/2" unfinished quilt block you can use a 3 1/2" template.

These sizes only work with a 6 x 6 grid or 6 rows of 6 Blocks in each row = 36 Blocks

Hope you were not near the tornado, need to ck Iowa map to see where you are and where tornado was--terrible.

No the tornado was in NW Iowa and we are almost in the bottom SE tip of Iowa. We did get some heavy rain and winds but nothing too serious. Just normal Iowa weather.

I've been through several tornados over the years. It is just something we live with. At least it is over quickly!
I can tell you they do sound exactly like a big train coming through!
