Default Non-slip Ruler Aid

Saw this idea in a BHG Quilt magazine and tried it. Worked great. I cut heart shapes from a thin piece of rubber shelf liner that I had on hand. Laid the shapes on my fabric to the left of the ruler where I was going to cut then put the ruler on top. It kept the ruler from slipping. Moved them along as I went. Need to experiment more but liked the first try! Just thought I would share. Any one else try this before?

Thanks for the reminder, just cut a piece and am now hoping my cushion will stay put.
