I need a pattern for a seven point star. You can see the one I want at Cherokee.org. It is the emblem of the Cherokee Nation. I have tried and tried to make a pattern for this. It is really hard. Thanks Barbara Coppock

Barbara I am working on it. I will see what I can come up with. I have found a geometric shape for it now I just need to decide how to divide it to put it together. You may need to paper piece it and that I don't do. But I bet Klue could help there.
Let me see what I can come up with and I will let you know here soon. Rhonda

Barbara I can see it as a dresden plate if you wanted to applique it. I think the dresden template may also be the way to go to piece it also. You could cut the dresden shape and add the background fabric before you add it all together. Just a thought.
Doing the dresden plate is the easiest as far as I can see. If you want the two shades in each arm of the star then just sew two fabrics together before you cut out the dresden piece. Then sew the dresdens together and applique onto a background square. I have a simple way of basting the edges of each dresden before you add them together and then you can just pin it in place and sew it on under your needle. You don't have to hand sew it on.
I can figure out the dresden template for this if this is what you want to do. Just let me know.
