I don't buy jelly rolls. I find that I can buy more fabric and cut it my self for much less money.
I save cutting for when my husband says sit here and watch tv with me. This way I can be with him and
I set up my mat and ruler on the counter which is just the right height.
I am fugal and unless I don't have the time pre cuts are not worth the price.

That is exactly what we have done for our Project Linus Day at the Post. If you use fat quarters, two strips cut at 2.5" will give you the equivalent WOF that the original pattern calls for. I have eleven kits available, and there are even some smaller pieces included - - the goal is x-amount of strip lengths. In the case of the original pattern that would be 1600 inches
The beauty of this pattern is it does use pre-cut jelly rolls, but those of us who enjoy using up our "scraps" can use the pattern also. <wave>

That's what I've been thinking - this way you can also get the exact colours you want, not someone else's choices.

The results of our Project Linus at the Post today. Five machine operators, five quilts in less than four hours - - some have a 3.5" border all the way around (the others got theirs later)

I have done this, but I like the idea of sewing just two strips together. I was cutting every 54" and then sewing them together. This is much quicker and yeilds the same results! And much less cutting.

What a nice way to use up all of those "extra" 2.5 inch strips I have left over. Can't wait to try this. Happy quilting.
