Default 1937 featherweight price

Someone on CL has a Singer featherweight. 1937 model with Egyuptian(spelling) scroll, with accessories, case etc for $650.00. Seems a little high. What do you all think? I have a 1956 model in perfect shape, sews like a dream. I gave $250.00, shipping and all for mine.

Seems extremely high to me, unless it's got a Penguin walking foot with it.

Way to high. I saw one for $500.00, and it was trashed. Not even wiped down. Such a shame.

A penguin is a walking foot made for the Featherweights....hard to come by and quite spendy!

Ebay in Australia has just auctioned a Featherweight 222K - no mention of year, but ad said there was an embroidery hoop. Guess the price? $2030 aust or about $2200 US. I have no idea why that particular machine was fought over so enthusiastically. Another one is just about to finish for over $800.

Your price is in the range, especially since it can't be tested until you own it. . I saw three on the goodwill shopping site going between $200.09 and $295.00 last week. A few years ago (in CA) refurbed FW's could be purchased for $350-400.00 depending upon on condition but prices theer have softened. $650.00, in my opinion, is a LOT high in the USA.

WOW $650.00 is way too high! I paid $250 for mine without the case. I see tons of FW on eBay with asking prices in the 5-6 hundred dollar range. They can ask all they want doesn't mean they are going to get it

I never knew about this penguin walking foot either. I don't think the one on CL has it. I thought it was was too high, glad I got mine for $250.00.
