Yes, I need a quite a bit of luck to get one. There is a single one on ebay.uk now, in Coventry. I think they stopped making them a bit earlier in the UK, earlier than the US, I'm not sure. What I have seen have been 1930s machines mostly, a few 1940s to very early 1950s. I haven't seen them often enough to make any sense of it.

Yes I saw that one. Didn't realise you were in the UK. You might have a good chance of getting it then I thought about it because I'm going to the old country in a few months, but the cast iron machines are too heavy for planes.
They certainly didn't make them for long in Scotland. I've seen hundreds of 201Ks for sale here and nearly all have been 201K3 (external motor) and some 201K1 (treadle), plus one 201K4 (HC). Never even knew about a 201K2 until a few weeks ago.

Hi all, I have been shut out of the Qb for many days now, but finally got signed back in last night, don't know why, drove me nuts.

I wanted to say I have been sewing on my new 201-2 and it seems to be as wonderful as everyone has told me. It is so smooth and quiet and a joy to sew on and sews through about everything. I hemmed dh's jeans and it went right through the two stacked flat fell seams with no problems using a 14 needle then I switched to a 16 needle to use the heavy jeans thread for the top stitching and it did that better than the stitching that was already on the jeans, no problems using the heavy thread. I have made pads for my table top machines to cushion them when I put them on the treadle tops to rest there for a while, lol, and it did a wonderful job on that. I got out my walking foot for my newer kenmore and it fit right on and did a great job with that too. Yes I am delighted with this machine, should have gotten one years ago. I also have a couple of pics, just in case you might like to see it, like you haven't seen one before, lol. The one shows the spool pin and oil spots. I have enjoyed all of the information, thanks to all.

Wow Lynn, she's purty. Now you know why people that have a 201-2 love them so much.

I find it interesting that the Singer 201-2 seem to be hard to find in some areas. I'm in California and haven't had to hard time finding them at all, but finding a 201 with the external motor in either body style has been darn near impossible. I think I might have seen one in the past and didn't realize what it was at the time. Now that I would love to find one, I haven't seen hide nor hair of one! I think I must have 5 of the 201-2's some with the silver plate on top and some without it.

It’s the same here. I have four Singer 201-2 machines, and one 201K4 (handcrank) that I found as a 201K3 (disc wheel and motor) in the Dallas Texas area and converted to HC. It’s a 1948 model, so was probably sent out originally as an electric 201K3. I know of four other 201-2 machines in my area, but no other styles of 201. I’ve not seen an aluminum-body version around here yet.

Thank you Cari, yep I can see why everyone has such high praise for them. I have seen several 201's and 201-2's around these parts but have all been kind of expensive for me to venture that way. I have never seen the Aluminum body ones that I know of, I thought I had two but they turned out to be something else after I looked at them for a while.lol The cabinet and stool are very nice with the nearly always water mark on the top!
