Default 1927 model 30 greyhound sewing machine

Hello, I know this post is from over a year ago, but hopefully you will see this message. I have my great grandmothers model 30 greyhound sewing machine. Unfortunately I do not have any attachments or anything, but the wiring and electrical components are in excellent shape. I acquired this machine when she passed away, and have moved it with me for the last 40 years. It has a wooden case, and had a leather handle which has since rotted away. Although I do sew, I have a more current machine, and have never done more than plug this in to see if it works...it does! I would love to see it find a home where someone will use it, and do more with it than keep it in the attic. If you are interested at all please contact me. Thank you Kathi

Thanks for this info! I just picked up an older model New Home, don't know model, but I'll bet the short bobbins it came with are wrong. I tried hand turning a few stitches and there were large loops on top. But I may have the bobbin incorrectly loaded. I'm about to search for a manual...

Did you know we have a gallery of 3/4 size machines? Feel free to post a pic there: http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...e-t185449.html

Oh my goodness what a cute little machine, it even looks greyhoundish. Sleek and petite and yet powerful. Too cute. You both have a great eye for the oldies.

Dear Joe,
If you wake up one morning and this sweetie pie is missing, don't look in Blue Earth, MN. We will be in a nice country with no extradition treaty.

As you can see the motor on this one is also black. The foot controller was a smallish square metal affair and has been replaced as well. When I got to the machine to bring it back to live the wiring was in atrocious shape. Not knowing how it should be wired I managed to short out the controller. So I grabbed the extra one we had here that didn't fit anything else and used that.

The owners manual is 16 pages long and with my dial up and photobucket and all I'd rather make a printed copy and send it to you.
As best as I can tell it was a March of 1927 manual. Here are the numbers on the front: No. 495-3-27-10,000

I'll be back in a few with some more pics for you.

Joe
