Default 301 at AZ Goodwill

I know I don't "need" this machine, BUT, if the price was right I don't believe I would pass it up :-)

Can you all give me a ballpark price on the 301s you've purchased? I really haven't been paying attention to the 301 prices.

This machine is a couple of hours south of me so I wouldn't have to pay shipping.

That's a purty one. Can't say anything about whether or not the price is good, but if I wanted it bad enough I'd go for it.
As for the drive from Phoenix to Tucson that's an easy drive. Done it more than once.

Decide - Do I want this machine: yes___X_ no_____
Decide - How bad do I want this machine: gotta have it_____X____ I can live without it________

Road trip........ whooo hoooo!!!

I paid $65 plus shipping of $25, plus I had to pay for a new cord & foot pedal, so another $20, plus a new tensioner because mine was bad, so another $20...Total of $130, and I didn't get a case or bobbins. It's all up to you, but I'd probably pay it. Plus not a bad drive for you...I did a 5 hour round trip drive a couple of weeks ago to get my Davis NVF. So.....

301s are going up in price. If it stays in that price range and you want a 301, then I'd say go for it. I paid $61 and $20 in shipping, but that was a year and half ago. Plus, the black ones are considered more desirable than my mocha.

I would jump on that machine it's a long bed black and the price is right and better yet for you no shipping. I have several 301's and love them all.

I paid $20 for my black short bed 301 last summer at a garage sale. It was an unusually good deal. I paid $15 for one in a thrift store -- the main drive gears were frozen, but the parts had value.

I have a friend who says that $100 is never a bad deal for a 301 in working order.

It does matter how badly you want one, how long you have been looking, and what the availability for them is in your area.

What someone has paid at a garage sale etc..is it reality or luck? Asking what "you've paid" is kind of mute if you can look on ebay and see what closed auctions for 301's are. Then you have to decide to pay the asking price or not. I have 5 of them and I've paid all different amounts. Look on ebay.

Personally, I'd like a better look at that bobbin case before I was going to bid. The photos are really degraded, but the latch on the bobbin case looks funny, like it may be missing. A new bobbin case will set you back $30-$50 for an original one. So, asking for a better photo would be a good idea.

the bobbin case does look a little strange but not sure if it is a reflection or the angle

the middle bobbin is an actual original bobbin

if my Grandson were still in Tucson (he Graduated, couple of weeks ago) I would beg him to bring it to me

I would buy that in a heartbeat. Just got a black short bed last week and no case, or cord or foot pedal. Have ordered them and I love sewing on my 301's. Wish I could find another sewing cabinet to put my "new" one in . I agree with what has been said about prices at garage sales vs ebay. It also is in "how much do I want it" ? I would say go for it - looks good to me .
