Default Singer Red Eye

This is on my local equivalent of Craigs List. I know the standard answer is "it is worth what it is worth to you" but I'm wondering if anyone can give an educated guess. They have increased the asking price from $100 to $150. I don't think they will get it...

That's not a "red eye" decal set, that's the "La Vencedora" decal set.

I could be wrong, but I think the "red eye" was only offered on the model 66. The machine listed is either a 127 or 128 ... not sure which without looking it up - but I know it's a shuttle machine (66 is a rotary).

Strange how the seller has increased the price ... it usually goes the other way around!!!

From what I can see it looks like all decals intact - but needs some TLC (cleaning), the case it a bit 'bruised' but in overall decent condition.

I personally wouldn't pay more than $70 (and that's a stretch), but I'm also not in the market for that machine.

edited to add ... it's a 128.

This is purely a personal preference but I actually like this decal better than the Redeye. The decals on this machine appear to be in excellent shape, so that would influence the price I would pay. I might go as high as $100 for it, assuming it runs.

It appears that the prices you can get in other parts of the country are alot cheaper than we can in my area of Texas...they try to sell junk cabinets and rusted out machines for $200 to $350...just won't do..I'm hoping for a miracle...a workable machine at a good price...asking tooooo much...I don't think so.

I have this same machine and this is one of my favorite decals. This machine is smaller, so a bit more 'feminine' than the red eye. Also, if the electrical is bad you can put a handcrank on this baby and listen to the wonderful clickety-clack sound it makes when sewing!

Hi Quilt Queen,
I'm in Round Rock,Texas. I was looking on craig's list last and just can't believe the junk machines selling for a fortune.

Like someone else said, this isn't a Red Eye. The price seems a little high to me. I bought a 1910 Red Eye with a perfect wood case (although missing the key) for $35 yesterday from the Peddler's Mall in my town. It has all the parts and runs like a dream. I already had 12 machines - this makes #13. I was NOT looking for another machine!! Prices do seem to vary a lot - even around me but I've found that if I have patience, the right price will come along. I've bought 3 treadles (2 Singers and 1 New Home) for $40 each for 2 of them and $50 for the other one while I've seen them listed for $150-400 with lots of rust and missing parts - not to mention cabinets is horrible condition. One of mine was missing the bobbin cover - it was easy to find on ebay. The others all had all their parts and they all run well. It is addictive!!!

Everyone's right, that is not a red eye but La Vencedora. I have this machine & I love it BUT I still would love to get my hands on a Red Eye. There is something about that machine that has me hooked. La Vencedora is what they call a 3/4 machine so it's a bit smaller than a regular machine but it is awesome & 2nd place next to the Red Eye IMHO.
Just to add a further note, I paid $50.00 for mine & the machine is in very good shape, works perfectly but the case needed a bit of sprucing up. They are asking a little on the high side but it's whatever it's worth to YOU.

But are they actually SELLING for those prices??? Lots of folks around her list machines on Craigslist with absurd prices but they do NOT sell. Sometimes they are on there for years..really..years. Watch a machine for awhile then offer much less.

It was my plan to watch the machine and wait for a while and offer less. I was thinking of offering $50 when they had it priced at $100. Then they increased the price to $150...I'm only going to look at it, not sew with it, so I'm not prepared to pay more than $50.
