Default 301a bobbin winding difficulty

Hello,
I'm just getting into using the vintage machines I bought last year. I was winding my singer 301a bobbin, and it doesn't "catch" or spin the bobbin - in order to wind it, I have to push the bobbin against the handwheel, and then it winds. Does that mean I need a new bobbin tire? Or just adjust some of the screws? Thanks.

Check the tyre to make sure it's not hard and glazed or flat spotted. Also make sure there is no oil or grease on the hand wheel or bobbin winder tyre. If it is it will slip on the hand wheel.

There are adjustments on the winder but it doesn't take much contact pressure to spin the little drive tyre.
