Default 301A and FMQ

I have had a Singer 301A for a couple years now. I had it serviced a couple years ago and never really did use it much. After reading about ( and looking) at all the beautiful quilts done on vintage/antique machines, I decided to give mine a try.

I am thrilled to report that it does a great job!!! I just need to make some practice sandwiches and get to work. Such pretty and even stitches. It puts my computerized machine to shame. I just need to fill lots of bobbins because they don't hold very much thread.

What kind of foot do you use for your FMQ on the 301?

You can use any slant shank hopping foot, the trick is to remove the thread cutter so you have room to install the foot.

I bought a darning/fmq foot from April's 1930s shop (online) when I first got my machine. It is a big and plastic. I was lucky and didn't have to remove anything to install the foot.

Yup, ditto. Though I think removing it may cut down on the noise.
