That looks like it would just wipe off or scrub off with steel wool - you might want to shoot a little spray paint on it

Navel Jelly is a bit to harsh I think most of us use Evporust because it won't eat the metal. I agree with Miriam on steel wool for yours.

Yes, the New Home has been cleaned up and sews quite well. I haven't done anything to it's paint yet as I'm still looking for some case latches and a face plate. I got a couple nice shuttles for it from a QB member last year. Once I get all the parts I'll get to it.

As far as the rust on the controller, I'd use 4/O steel wool and oil to lightly scrub off the rust, then I'd degrease it and paint with Krylon or RustOLeum (sp) spray paint.

Navel Jelly is nasty stuff and I wouldn't use it on sewing machines.

My foot pedal for my "99" looked the same, I removed the rust, waited 2 days, then put some Rust-Oleum Flat Black Paint on it. Now it looks like new. That paint stops further rusting.

I bought a small, brass brush, used for welding cleanup. It looks like a toothbrush. It gets the rust and leaves a sheen where you use it. It isn't expensive and works on small spaces.

I use the small brass brushes I find in the gun cleaning aisle they are the size of a large tooth brush and have a small brush on the other end. I will check the welding supplies now also.

The rust issue has been dealt with! Oil and steel wool did the job.
