adventures in learning to love my slant-o-matic
i was cruising kijiji today as i often do (i am amazed at the amount of stuff produced by this culture!!!!) and i saw a rocketeer for sale, totally refurbished and clearly a labour of love.the seller was listed about an hour from here, so i emailed him to find out if he had any tips for loosening up this elevator plate.
after about 17 emails back and forth i have a mid afternoon meet up with a retired air force guy who loves to tinker with machines and is happy to tool about with mine and teach me some things. he's done about 4 rocketeers and three or four 401's, so he says he has all sorts of loose parts and stuff.
i think i'll bake something delicious for the road and be thankful for a good long while.
community. this is how you make it.
yay!

What a nice day! It's nice to make friends that way. Lately I thought about leaving my name and contact info at the local joannes to see if there is anyone out there looking for folks with older machines. Cleaning and oiling I can do. Just thought be interesting. Have fun with your machine!!
