Hi,
This may be a little late but here is a link to a 1956 Aldens add showing your machine (2nd machine in image):

KuriousNik,

Welcome to the Quilting Board Forum.

Question, is this your blog?

I have not only the Aldens I posted the picture of on the first page, but an Alden that is similar to one of the machines in that blog.

Do you know if ALDENS and ALDEN came from the same store?

I've been looking for information, but my search abilities is limited at best.

Hi,
No, that is not my blog but I too own an Aldens. Mine is a model 140 that I think was made in 1958.
I have been searching for any info I can find. I saw your post and joined the quilting board to answer this post.
I know that Aldens was a mail order company that imported these machines from Japan and "branded" them.
There is quite an interesting history on the branded (also called badged) Japanese machines if you google "Japanese cloned sewing machines".
There isn't much info out there specifically regarding Aldens machines but there are similar machines since they were all made by the same factories.

I hope this helps you,
-Nik

Default Oh my!! The ZZ is just like my zigzag!

J. Miller, I have a machine that looks exactly like your Aldens Magic ZZ. Mine just says DeLuxe ZigZag Made in Japan. I cant find any info about it anywhere and I need a part for it! I love this machine- I cant believe I finally even found a picture of another one like mine! I dont know how to put a picture on here or I would include one. If anyone know where to get a take-up for it please let me know!

Cchopper1, Joe no longer posts here, Miriam pops in once in a while but most of us older members are now active over at the VictorianSweatshop forum.
You'll need a donor machine to get a take up lever. You'll have to look for parts by the looks of the machine not by the name, most of the many Japanese machine models were badged under many, many names.
