Friends, I have a small heartbreak. I have my great-grandmother's W&W 9 sewing machine. It is in working order and I use it all the time. We just moved, and it was a horror show. Aside from some cabinet damage, the movers managed to lose the front slide/throat plate. Does anyone have a spare for this machine or know where I might find one? It appears to be exactly 1 1/2 inches across. Please contact me directly at [email protected].

I'm so sorry to hear of your moving issues. I dread the day I have to move with all the sewing machines here, but we have a travel trailer, so I can see myself packing them and stowing them carefully in there, and not having to deal with movers for that stuff.

Is that the one you're looking for? I've never dealt with this person, but perhaps it's what you need and can start a dialog with them?

Thanks, ArchaicArcane. Yes, I found this site, but their email does not seem to be working. The plate shown is not the one I need...that one is the "rear slide plate". Seems that the "front slide plate" often goes missing. I've even considered purchasing an entire second machine just for this plate (and then I'd have other parts) but all the ones I've seen online are also missing this one plate. It never fit tightly. I should have taped it down.

Oh darn! I was hoping that was it because it had two screw holes in it, so I thought it was different than the one in your images. I will definitely post if I come across anything else while I'm haunting the web.

There's no chance it's slid inside a box or somewhere weird is there? Perhaps they found it while moving it and tucked it somewhere? Or if you called the company, maybe it's wedged somewhere in the box?

Thanks for looking. Its certainly possible that its been tossed into another box. We're still finding things where they don't belong. And, there is still the mystery of what happened to an entire box of wine glasses that were in their own box that I am now finding one at a time packed in other things, and chipped and broken. I've documented 91 separate damage issues.

I just got a phone call from someone who thinks he has "one and only one" of these plates. Waiting for verification. I'll let everyone know.

oh! and you should call moving company to reimburse what is broken and missing.. i would...you betcha i would..

Oh! Good luck! I definitely think you need to contact the moving company, both to ask if they found a small piece of metal they didn't know what it belonged to, and to raise a little uhm,... dust about what they've done. You paid them to break your stuff otherwise.

(I apologise if I'm a little fiesty, we had our truck box customised by a loader operator who loaded it with what I'm finding out is a full ton of clay chunks, when I asked for top soil. I'm a little amped up.)
