Default Another neat set of Attachments

These came in a cardboard Johnston box -

I bid on them because I didn't have set like these, but I was expecting them to fit a machine I already had.

Here is how the hemmers mount to the foot.

In the listing, I didn't see the shuttle well - and after getting a getting my hands on it, I figured they were not going to fit the machine I thought they would. I was sure I didn't own any machine with a shuttle like this . . .

Anyone have any ideas what this set may fit?

As it turns out - they do fit the machine I expected them to fit - imagine my surprise when I opened the slide and saw this - is that a sign I have too many machines?

I was wondering of someone on here would know what that machine was - so I waited to post a picture.

This is a Royal St. James. Another interesting item about this machine - it sews forward regardless of the direction the flywheel is turning.

Other neat features - the presser foot lever is on the front of the machine, and the flywheel is flat, not rounded. That's a Singer handcrank sitting next to it -does not go with this machine.

Also - what is referred to as "New Royal, old style" is a newer machine that is significantly different from this one.

Neat!! What an odd and interesting feature. I wonder how they did it...probably something elegantly simple.

Nice! That is a machine I am considering putting on my list just because of the drive mechanism...

here is the drive mechanism - the cam causes the lever to move back and forth the same way whether the flywheel is turning clockwise or counterclockwise.

Oh, you had me thinking you were going to have to search for another machine to go with that find. Love the neat machine you found you already had to fit them!

I watch eBay pretty regularly for vintage machines (still looking for the Eldredge long shuttle machine) and when one comes up I don't recognize, then I research until I figure it out. This one showed up and I had no idea what it was. After researching, I thought it was neat enough to add to the collection, even though it does not take a Boye aftermarket shuttle.
