Default Beautiful 1890 singer sewing machine

Never saw a machine like this one. Does anybody know anything about this type of machine?

Its a Model 29 Shoe Patcher. designed for sewing leather and other heavy goods. I have a 29-4 treadle just like that out in the garage but have never taken the time to get it up and running.

I was at an auction this weekend that sold two that looked like that. They were locked up tighter than a drum and sold for $75 each.

They are much in demand for people who sew leather products, especially for sewing patches on leather jackets. They sell on ebay for $76 to $990 with most in the $400-$600 range.

Shame shame! (j/k) those 29-4 patchers are one of the most amazing singers ever made. mine has yet to complain about anything i run through it. (Including stitching plastic to leather...)

Sewfine, the CL ad is still up. Are you considering going to buy it? That is a bit more money for a machine than I normally spend but I would be happy to have that machine at that price.
