This is what I have to say I will pray for you, you have been given very good advice I have problems of very reasons. First I leave the room. pray, Take the face plate off and clean it, change the needle for no reason but to do it, rethread it, hand wheel the first couple stitches and go slow and usually it comes out all right. Yes, if A2 is flopping around, then it will cause issues. This is a pretty common problem. No bother at all!!
There aren't any screws on either side of A2,.. that's part of B2 which should have lifted out of place with the needle plate.... Are they not moving out of place with the needle plate?
Do you have a picture you can post? I feel like I'm missing something. The needle plate, including B2, should lift out of place, then you put turn A2 into place, and drop the needle plate (and B2) on top then tighten the 2 screws back down.
There aren't any screws on either side of A2,.. that's part of B2 which should have lifted out of place with the needle plate.... Are they not moving out of place with the needle plate?

Oh Eva!! I'm so happy to hear that! I'll be sure to post a link to the write up I'm going to do when I work on this FW that just had a complete tear down. I'm going to be painting it, and I disassembled the internals as well.
The machine was pretty gunked up (wouldn't sew when I got her, grunge and hardened lube everywhere,...), so I figured no time like the present. I'll post about the rebuild process once I get a chance to get started. Poor thing is in pieces in a box right now, with a can of stripper beside her. That's got to be terrifying!
