I had to look up polyshades. Ok I see stain and poly in one. Since this case is in pretty good shape I am going to try the Howards, but I will need to putty the wood inside just to fill the voids and match his paint. I would never choose to paint the inside like the previous owner did, but it did come out looking nice. I have no idea what it looks like under the paint so maybe that was the only good choice.
