Default Bernina Treadle

Hi everyone. I was just curious about something. Over 25 years ago I found a Bernina treadle at a thrift store. I bought it it and have used it over the years. It had about 12 different stitches, was green, and was made like the Bernina Record. You didn't have to treadle as fast since the fly wheel was large. I moved this heavy thing around for over 20 years before deciding to sell. I hated to part with it but I really didn't use it after getting many more machines. (you know how they breed and multiply). I never found any information about a treadle Bernina. The only thing I heard which may or may not be true) was that they made a small run after WWII in Europe when many houses did not have electricity. I would post a picture but since I sold it a few years ago I cannot. I have always been curious about this machine. Has any body ever heard of a treadle Bernina?

I've always wondered if Bernina made a treadle back in the day. I'm a nut about anything Bernina...great machines is an understatement, in my opinion. I might have to google this to see a photo.

I would love to get a Bernina treadle! I've heard the old 400 series and lower can be treadled, even though you may have to remove the motor. They were sold to be either motorized or treadled. The key is to make sure the motor isn't internal to the machine but sitting outside. I keep my eyes open on Ebay and Craigslist, and I just know one of these days someone will put one up for sale at a price I can afford. I've got Singer and White treadles, but I love, love, love my Bernina electric machines (a 1031 and a 440), and I really would love to have a zigzag treadle. I figure an older Bernina would be perfect for that.

Oh well, I'll keep dreaming. I doubt the treadles coachmatthewsvhs saw were Berninas! If they were, I want to be where he or she is!! I've definitely seen treadles go for a song, but they were always Singers or New Homes or Franklins or Frees or ...

It was never converted from one with a motor. The cabinet looked liked 1950's modern with full laminate wood down to the floor with a wood pedal. It ran like a Swiss clock. I have had other treadles so I know what they're like, this was very fast and easy to treadle and oddly enough had a light. It did not have a # but it was just like the Record which was a 730 or 830?
