Default Blue Sewmor

I was given this Blue Sewmor and I have cleaned her up and oiled her and she runs, can anyone familiar with these machines tell me about them? Can their age be found out? There is a serial number on the front.

I just bought this one last week
you can see the differences in the two.

is your bobbin cover flip up or a slide plate ? this one flips ups. the face cover / plate is ribbed on this one

look in yahoo groups. find Japanese sewing machine group, join that, also in yahoo look for fixit, join that one.

That's a beauty. Early 50s most likely. The serial number doesn't help at all because there are no records. I love these straight stitch machines. They only do one thing but they do it very well. I have several of them and can't really pick a favorite.

I've got one too thanks to forum member SteveH. It's a nice blue 202.

The bobbin plate on mine is hinged and lifts up.

It's basically a 50's vintage copy of the Singer 15. Great machine.

I found one at a yard sale for $10. I don't know much about it but it is very pretty and sews a nice seam.

Thanks for the replies, her plate slides out and her foot petal is metal instead of plastic. When I run her you can see tiny little sparks through the holes in the motor, is that normal?

Yes, you will almost always see some sparking from the brushes. As long as it doesn't get really bad I ignore it.
Even freshly cleaned motors will spark a little.
