    But many of my machines have a tension knob for thread that goes on the bobbin. It is under tension when filling a bobbin. Some machines are picky about the bobbin thread being filled while under tension.

    Hopefully someone is still checking out this thread. When you GENTLY coax that metal knob off you have to reposition tje washer under it. Its most likely on incirrrctly. Featherweight.com has a great video on it in their Schoolhouse section. It will fix the problem of needle moving while winding bobbin.
