Default Clemens Muller MOP Hand Crank

Thanks to Steve for pointing this one out on the "Giggles" thread down in southern California. I just happened to be travelling down to that area to visit with family and couldn't resist this beauty.

I am not nearly as educated in the really old machines as some of you here, but I am interested in learning.

This is a fiddle base, Clemens Muller, transverse shuttle with mother of pearl inlay. I am finding things suggesting it is a "Saxonia" due to the handle which folds in when not in use. I'm not sure whether that would make it a 3/4 size?

It was a "boat anchor" as found but I have been able to get some parts freed up. Some are still pretty well stuck. It's missing the bobbin and shuttle (I understand it should take the boat style), and unfortunately it also is missing the needle clamp which could be harder to find. Unobtanium?

I am taking it slow getting it cleaned up and trying to free parts. Any advice on obtaining parts, needles, and clean-up from the experts is welcome.

*I'll be peeking back on Steve's thread about his new Wilson that is looking so lovely to see if he is giving tips.

parts for a Singer 12 or 12k should be interchangable.

It is my understanding that the "saxonia" is applied to the 3/4 sized units, not the folding handle which is simply a German thing. All three German handcranks I have had used folding handles no matter the size.

Thank you! There hasn't been boodles of information on this machine so all input is very welcome!

Steve, have you ever opened up the box style face plate? The main mechanism is stuck and I want to clean inside and free it up. Are things going to sproing out?

Congrats on getting it! I'm hoping Steve is right and you'll be able to get parts that will work for it relatively easily.

What a pretty machine...even if she is in less than working order. Hope she behaves and cleans up and starts to work...

1. I have removed the faceplate of every one of my machines.
2. No "sproing" with this one. (do be prepared for it to be stuck and then suddenly give)
3. there are two screws on the face to remove it.

I already loosened the screws and can tell it will be stuck. The center line where it should come apart looks glued together with years of grime. I hope I can get it looking as nice as you do yours Steve. You have a real knack for getting the metal parts to shine!
