Default Considering Kenmore 158.10402

Does anyone know much about this machine, Kenmore 158.10402? The person is asking $50 for it. I appreciate any info on it. Thank you.

It's a terrific 3/4 size machine. Check to be sure that the spool pin is OK. It's pushed down into the machine when stored (the case cover is put on); sometimes people leave it extended and it gets damaged. I'm still looking for the replacement part for mine. The case should be complete and in good condition; if not, you have some negotiating power.

Thank you Manalto. If everything is tip top what is a fair asking price?

$50 is a good deal. There's a compartment that's integrated into the bed of the machine that holds feet and attachments. Check in there to see what comes with it. Feet are easy to find online if you need others.

I think it's one of the best Kenmores, with its 70s styling, clever clamshell case and really convenient as a portable. It uses class 15 bobbins with their big thread capacity, too.

I've had a couple of them. $50 is a good price, if it has the attachments box and case. I've seen them up to $100 but the two I had I sold to friends for $50. The little attachment box forms part of the sewing surface and rotates toward you to open. The case is a "clamshell' type that has roses embossed on it. Quite light, and has a nice selection of utility stitches, so is a great class or travel machine. It does drop feed dogs, attachments are standard low shank and uses class 15 bobbins, so they are easy to find. I have a .pdf manual if you get it and need the manual, pm me.

Was? You mean it's no longer available? I'm sorry, I don't understand.

Miriam, Thanks to this thread I've renewed my search for the spool pin bracket (that's what the Sears parts schematic calls it - part 33357) and have made several inquiries with used parts suppliers. If I get any responses I'll also ask about the attachment box, and I'll let you know.

It was good to pull out the old Kenmore and take it for a spin. I had forgotten what a nice machine this is.

What attachments come with this machine? I love the style of the whole machine.
