I have just bought a Singer 201K off ebay for $90! I learnt to sew on my Mum's 201K back in the early 60's, and still remember how quiet it was, it just purred along. Now I have my 3 wish- list Singers- 221K, 222K FW's and 201K. All within the last 5 days. I will be eagerly awaiting their arrival by post. I will post photos once they arrive.
Now I have to give them names, better than the names I give my electronic machines when they won't co operate, especially the Viking SE. lol!

Way to go. I enjoy the hunt as much as I enjoy the getting. Two thrills for one:)

Good going. Isn't it great when you find exactly what you want and it's in decent or easily fixable condition.

I recently bought a Singer 201-3 as well and I love it. There is no more complaining, growling or bunching as from my Janome 6500 when I try to replace heavy duty zippers in DH's brown duck coveralls. I just finished quilting a scrap quilt using a walking foot and the stitches were much more even than on my Janome. Now I want to try FM with it as the feed dogs will drop on this machine. It just seems so much more powerful than my Janome 6500 and the harp space allowed me to quilt my queen sized quilt.

That is exactly what I am going to try too, I don't think my Mum knew about dropping the feed dogs on her machine, she used to darn clothes by using the reverse lever and going zigzag across the hole or tear! I tried to free motion quilt on my modern machines but gave up!!

The quilt in my avatar is a Queen size, I quilted in the ditch on my Brother QC 1000 and is was a real battle to roll it up under the harp!! I was so glad to get it done!
