Default Domestic No4

I was given a Domestic No4, with the base and coffin top. However the poor thing seems to be missing the thread guide. I have checked ebay and wondering if there are other resources. I don't even know how to use a treadle, but it's never too late I always say.

Best to take a pic of machine and missing thread guide. Perhaps one can be made or someone might have parts.

I have one or two "extra" older domestic machines (don't ask why . . .) so do post a picture of what you are looking for.

You will find quite a lot of older Domestic parts on eBay, they appear to have been one of the more popular machines. However sellers rarely know what they have, so often you end up looking at everything and recognizing what you are looking for.

I've been hoping to get an original of that manual - I have newer ones, but want the one that has the bobbin winder that you use your hand as the thread guide. That is an older machine than the #4, however winding the bobbin is one of the major differences.

I bought the older machine and it was in very good condition except for missing the front slide, and after looking and looking, I found a rough machine cheap enough I bought it just for the slide. It's a bit newer and has the thread guide on the bobbin winder. Both of those two were pre- chain stitch attachment, so I kept looking and bought a New Domestic, which was the early version that can chainstitch. There is a later version that also does, and after that White took control and Domestic became just a name on a White made machine.

So, on your Domestic #4, does the shuttle carrier have a hole in it?
